It seems the radar map I use frequently has been replaced with a zoomed-out view. Previously it showed the Woodstock area as the default, then would zoom out to Metro (Atlanta) then Regional then National (or something like).
Now the local (zoomed in) view shows Metro (much of GA), and is no longer centered on Woodstock, so that I can't see anything North of my area, and my area is such a tiny part of the map, I can hardly discern any details. Metro displays the entire State.
I use the local view frequently for guessing weather 15-30 minutes into the future for bike rides, store trips, etc. In fact, this is what sold me on Weatherbug, and is what impresses anyone that watches me use it.
Is there any way to get back to what I had?
Thanks! |

Thanks for the reply, Andy!
What you show in your screenshots is what is showing up for me when I click Local. It's too zoomed out and not centered on Woodstock. This just changed in the last day or two.
If I click on Metro I get an ever more zoomed out view that shows a good portion of the adjacent states. I think that's a little much for Metro, and it's more zoomed out than what your screenshot shows for Metro.
So if you checked the maps, something else must have changed in the last couple days causing it to be serving me the wrong sized maps for the buttons I click. |

I was very disappointed to see the local radar map gone. What gives?
I used it to see what was coming in the area for the day....now it's pretty much useless for me, since the weather in this state can vary within just a few miles. |

This post is a duplicate of one I posted on another thread in direct reponse to another user's post there. But I posted it here as well because the thread topic is more relevant.
My zip code is 18933 and my WeatherBug location has been set to 18901, the nearest weather station to my zip code. My Local radar view was centered on 18901 and I could see my physical location northeast of that.
All that changed with the new maps. My location is still 18901, but the map is now centered over Philadelphia, which is southwest of 18901. In fact, 18901 is just visible in the top right corner, and my physical location is off the map.
As a result, my physical location is not on my "local radar".
I have been a subscriber to WeatherBug Plus for many years. But if I can't see my location on the local radar, why would I stay?
I've read this thread and others related to the change in radar and still don't feel like there is any admission of any change in scope or zoom factor on the part of WeatherBug. But I can assure you that I know where my house is, and its location used to be on my local radar and now is not. How could I be mistaken about this?
Please be honest with the customers you do have, and let us know if this is a bug or is the new way of doing things. And don't tell me about zoom features to come. If I can't see my location at the current zoom factor, zooming in will only take me farther and farther away from that. |

Thanks for responding WxAndy. I agree with the post here opposing the wx window change. One thing I really don't like is you slipping the change in without my knowledge. It may be different if I did not pay for the plus version, but I do and therefore should have some say so on whether i want to change what I am using. I also agree with the writer that stated the change in the wx window should be an option that plus paying members could select or not select. Our choice.
I do have the option of whether I pay for the program or go with the free version. I certainly do intend to pay for something I am unhappy with. I don't know how much money you will lose but I do hope it is enough to make you aware that people are just not going to pay for a bad program.
My last comment WxAndy is you stating the some like the change and now all are the same on blackberry's, phones, and so forth. That's apples and oranges. Of all the comments on this blog, not one is for the change. I am not going to debate with you but where are the people that like it. My option is to not renew for the paid version, use the free version until I can find a replacement, and then do away with weather bug entirely.
Thanking you in advance. radar140 |

I think we're stuck with bing. So, I sent my "do not renew" instruction into:
'refund@weatherbugsupport.com'
I've subscribed to Weatherbug Plus for so long I couldn't remember how to unsubscribe (and stop the evergreen renewals on my credit card).
According to the support site, the above email address is used to stop auto-renewal, or cancellation of Weatherbug Plus.
I suspect they'll be getting an up-tick in traffic. |

My local hasn't been 'local' for awhile now. At first, my village (Cold Spring, NY, a village about 75 miles north of NYC) wasn't even on it. The local map now has zoomed out some to the point that Philadelphia & Wilkes-Barre, PA are both on my 'local' map, along with Danbury, CT.
I missed those detail images on thunderstorms that occasionally knock-out my DirecTV. I used to be able to gauge how long it would last. Now I can't. |
